The Hat
|
This weekend is a drill weekend, and we were given the task of reporting to drill in our Class A uniforms for an inspection. We wear our Class As about once a year, in December, unless Annual Training requires it. ![]() I've actually always liked the Class A uniform. I think it looks sharp. The Class B uniform on the other hand (remove the jacket), I'm not that fond of it. This is the first picture I got of me in my Class As while wearing my hat. My uniform appears pretty impressive at first glance, what with the rack of ribbons I have, until you notice that the highest ribbon is an Army Achievement Medal and then it doesn't look so impressive. But then, well there's this thing with the hat. There has been some debate amidst Drill Sergeants in regards to the female Drill Sergeant hat, the 'green curve', as it is sometimes called. Some would like for the female hat to be phased out and everyone go to the male Drill Sergeant hat, otherwise known as the 'brown round', the 'smokey bear', the 'Montana Peak', or whatever you want to call it. Some think that everyone should wear the same hat. I know a lot of females who would actually prefer to wear the male hat instead. Well, I'm always curious about these things, so I got one of my buddies to lend me his hat and got a picture. ![]() For all intensive purposes, I'm infantry now :P And no, no female drill sergeant in the history of the army has EVER put on the male drill sergeant hat. This was a completely original idea. < / sarcasm > So this was the male hat, and what it kind of looks like on me. I think the hat looks pretty cool one way or the other, but honestly I'm rather fond of the female hat and I'm comfortable with it, I think it looks good on me, so I'm open to it one way or the other. So, well, I'll strike a pose, the fingers extended and joined and the 'in your face' attitude (granted, with probably to much of a smirk). Which looks better? |
