Random Randomness

Ok, I'm in the mood to try something, and I want my reader's input. I'm not going to tell you what it is, but I want it to be somewhat random.

Post in my comments a suggestion for any one or all of the things listed below. The only request I have is don't post something somebody else has already posted, like if somebody else says Cat, please don't write down Cat as well, though try to think of answers before you read other people's suggestions. I want to keep this diversified.

I want from you:

An Animal
A Color
A Verb
A Place
A Name
An Emotion
A Word

Answer the above however you will. We'll see what comes out of it, eh?

Depart Already!!!

So I've got an appointment to see the Doctor at 8 this evening, because apparently they're booked up with the flu. Since I have to keep my foot on ice and elevated, and overall off of it (which leads to me relaxing on the couch with minimum activity *grumbles*) I decided since its new movie day, that I wanted to go rent a couple of movies to keep me occupied. So I sent my brother after the movies, one of them being The Departed, which I've been wanting to see for quite some time.

Despite the horrible movie review done of it in one of my classes earlier.

So I send him after the movie and while he's getting ready, he keeps trying to confirm the movie with me. "The Guardian, right?"

"No, the Departed."

Shortly thereafter, as he's getting his shoes on. "The Forgotten?"

"No, that was an awful movie! The Departed!"

A minute later, "Unforgiven?"

"Departed!!!"

So he finally leaves, I'm like trying to give him mnemonic clues just so he would get the hint, like how he needs to depart the house to get the movies. A few minutes later, he comes back, with The Unknown.

Which I've seen. . .

Maybe he'll get it this time.

More Randomness

Kids Scared of Santa! - my favorite one was Number 55, Kid, you SHOULD be scared of Santa!

The CG got me on this one, Building Airplanes

The Infamous Frogs, the Assassin Ferret, and two Lizards

I don't think Volkswagen appreciated this one that much.

Spammers

You know what I don't get? Spam.

Why do these automated emails try to sell me crap? How many sales do you suppose a Spam Email can generate? Enough to make them keep doing it I guess, because they KEEP DOING IT. I am guessing that if you could find a way to trace those emails back to the spammer who originates them, that person will find their life expired shortly thereafter.

What I REALLY don't get is the people who date their emails for four years ago so when it arrives in your inbox, all you can see is an unopened email but you don't know where it is and you have to surf through your mountains of emails to find it and delete it (and I have a full inbox that never gets answered or shifted down) *sighs*

What is the point of dating a spam email for 2003 anyway? Isn't the point to trick the person into opening it? Or is there some kind of attachment that tells the person who sent it *yes, this email is still sitting in their inbox, tell all your spambot friends to send MORE emails to them!*

If I seriously discovered that one of my friends were responsible for a spam email, I would disown them from friendship and swear blood vengeance (or at least egg their house) becuase they can only be aligned with the devil if they can stoop so low as the use of mass produced and badly done emails to sell prescription medications and informing me on elongating the penis I don't have.

*Grumbles*

Sports of Choice

I had another Dressage lesson today. This is going to be great for my butt when its all said and done. Now I do private lessons every Thursday, (and possibly going to do group lessons on non-drill Saturdays in Western Pleasure) and I think I'll be doing them into December, until Snowboarding proceeds to take up most of my time.

Speaking of which, the Ski Swap is this weekend. I'll be off to buy a helmet for the season, in case I faceplant into any more trees, or have any more mysterious Memory Loss Episodes.

Its been chilly lately, so I'm hoping it will be a kick butt winter season.

Meanwhile, I keep saying this but I need to just break down and do it. I have to start running! *bleh!* Only because my last PT test was way to close for comfort.

Things That Shouldn't Be Boughten Cheap

I have learned that there are some things you shouldn't be cheap with. Like when buying a digital camera, if you go ahead and spend the few extra bucks (or in this case, the few extra hundred bucks) you'll have a great camera that will take great pictures and last a while. If you skiff on this kind of stuff, you'll get grainy and crappy pictures. you might as well stick with the disposables, they take better pictures then a cheap digital camera does.

There are things that you can save a few bucks on by getting a bargain brand. Clothes come to mind (you usually have more then one outfit anyway), or whatever.

But don't be cheap with your Toaster.

We didn't have a toaster and at the time I didn't feel like spending a lot of money on something I may use once a week if that. So I went to Walmart (yes, I'm still convinced they are evil, but conveniant, see earlier post) and got a deal on a Toaster for like $6 bucks!

The thing is, everything that I toast tastes like diesel fuel. I was hoping it would go away after multiple uses, but you have to toast something three or four times to get a charbroiled crisp (because if you toast it once or twice it will come out slightly warm) and by then the smell is saturated.

I guess for now, it will sit on the counter and I will eat gasoline flavored toasted sandwiches if I feel the need until I buck up and buy a better toaster. And then it can go into the Garage Sale Fodder for next Spring.

Moral Compass for Wavering Souls

If you have any question of whether or not you are watching something you aren't sure you should or shouldn't be, a good and handy way to figure out is if you hang a picture of Christ directly above your television. If you feel uncomfortable with what your watching while this picture is in your line of sight, you probably are.

Mind you, this will probably only work if you are Christian to begin with.

Warning - staring at these walls for long periods of time may produce migraine headaches

My mom bought us a picture of Christ for our house. I like it because it is very conservative and not in your face religious, just a simple painting of Christ. We had Brown hanging where it is now, but with this painting in the room instead, well, Brown got moved downstairs. For the reason stated in the opening comment.

We felt that Blue was still tame and appropriate enough to keep upstairs however.

We still feel comfortable enough to kill aliens and zombies on Xbox, however I have a feeling that if I want to finish the American Pie trilogy, I'll have to take it downstairs.

Or maybe just go through my DVD collection and tone it down.

Can't Sleep

I've been having trouble sleeping lately, at least trouble sleeping regularly. My sleep schedule has gotten quite irregular, with me getting to sleep later and later and getting up later and later.

You know when you're trying to go to sleep and its dead silent except for that one quiet ticking noise that sounds like it might as well be somebody banging on a drum right above your head? I don't know what this sound is, but every night I hear it right by my head and I can't figure out what it is. I went to bed, got all snuggly under my covers and just. . . lay there. Wide awake. Listening to the eerie quiet except for that one little discreet ticking noise.

Tonight I also got the Coocoo clock keeping me company. Fortunately, that's an easy fix. Unfortunately, I've got this stupid ticking noise that appears to be related to my bedroom.

I wonder if its an electronic device? My bed is directly above my desk. Hmm, could be? I'll have to see if I can remedy this lack of sleep.

I think I'm going to learn more about web designing.

Bought a Bed

I finally bought myself a bed.

Its kind of a bed that requires more then one person to put together, and the furniture place was a little concerned when they sold it to me if I would need any assistance in putting it up. My reply?

"I took woodshop in High School, I think I can handle it."

He laughed of course, and my brother and I picked the bed up from the warehouse. I can't sleep on it yet because I don't have my mattress currently.

What's kind of funny about the whole bed thing is a lot of people I talked to about this specific type of bed seemed to assume I was buying it for a child. THen I would have to explain that no, it was for me. See, I'm currently in a room with no closet space and I don't want to take up a huge area with a bed. I might as well combine the floor space to make the most out of my, well, space.

So a Loft Bed it was!

And to bring the most BANG for my buck, I got one that crammed the most stuff into as small a space as possible. Which brings me to my bed. This isn't the bed I have, but it looks remarkably similar to mine.

I'm planning on sleeping on the top bunk and using the bottom space for storage. For now. I'm used to sleeping on a top bunk, mind you. I've been in the army for nearly seven years and I always managed to sleep on a top bunk. In fact, what prompted me to get a bed like this was my time spent in AIT. We had Loft beds there with our cubby hole and desk and everything else underneath. Very efficient. And I'm out of drawer space with my current dresser. When buying this bed, I was totally in College Student Practicality mindset. I'm just glad I have space to store my junk now!

I've got a nice mattress from Serta that should arrive by Thursday. WHich is the same day as my dental appointment.

Oh the Shame!

I may have made a cardinal sin.

I let a block of Swiss Chocolate go bad.

It was one of those things where you don't want to eat it, you want to save it and everything, you know? But the thing about Chocolate is it doesn't get better with age, like wine or some other alcoholic beverage that I don't know anything about. Especially since I think it was sat next to a heater on the flight home from Kosovo. Damn that Swiss Chocolate going bad! Swiss Chocolate is a rare pleasantry that can't go bad!

What's more, this is a sin times 3. Three bars of swiss chocolate. Oh the Shame!

In other news, I found that I can discover the finer points of military life when I'm discussing the military with an inquiring mind who wants to know. I got into the topic of discussing my European Vacation and military life in Kosovo (the finer parts) and got into a good conversation about it. I did mention my main peeve with the reserves, (the inability to decide on whether or not I am going to be deployed) but I think overall the military is getting a lot better at this. I think a soldier knows they will be deployed somewhere like a year in advanced now.

This will all be changed once we wage war on North Korea.

I'm also thinking about buying a Ferret.

Curse of Collections

The process of getting back into Civilian life is almost complete, save for the fact that I feel like I'm sleeping in a storage unit. On a cot. Now I'm working on going through my clothes, I think I'll sell clothes next on eBay. And a few more things of books. The dragonlance is out of my system now, that feels good. I have hung onto those for so long, collecting them that I got to a point that I was just collecting them because I collected them. I didn't even read them anymore. I realized that was kind of stupid and pointless. Kept the hardcovers, a couple of paperbacks, got rid of everything else.

Now all I collect is money. Er, foreign money that is. One of the few things I collect. I tried collecting stamps for a while, that didn't last to long.

Smile Time is the best Angel Episode. Ever.

Next series to watch is Firefly. Brother has it, supposedly. Except, well, he can't find it. So as soon as it shows up, I'll watch it, and I've got Serenity to watch as well.

I used to collect DVDs up the yahoo, however despite the fact that I'm working in a Movie/Music/Bookstore again, and working there with a lot more money then what I had before, I've been doing good at not buying DVDs at random. In fact, I think I'll be doing a lot more renting. Though they took my employee discount away for some reason, despite the fact that I was technically still employed there. Curse them. Its fixed now, but I didn't get them on discount when I could have used the ferkin' discount.

I do have a Coo-coo clock to hang up. I'll run it through the brother where he would suggest I hang it.

Have I bored you yet???

You're Host is a Dork

When I was the tender age of 19, I just got back from basic training and acquired my very first computer. It came with a net cam, and I started recording video on it.

I was rather eccentric with it as well.

Case in point,

In case you ever wanted to know how to pronounce Risawn. . .

(for some reason, the sound system gave me a lisp) This was kind of an idea of introducing myself to the world with my website back in 2000. My parents kind of warned me that I might not want to display myself entirely on the internet so prominently, so I never displayed it. That, and my website had like 15 megs of space at the time and a couple of videos would have shot that all to hell real quick.

Well, now its too late.

What can I say? I've always been a bit of a dork.

Junk makes me Overwhelmed. A bit.

This room is a disaster. I didn't realize exactly how much crap I had until I found that I had no place to stick it all. I was thinking of building a Desktop PC but I'm starting to change my mind, I have no place to stick it.

First idea is to go through all of my books and weeding through the ones I don't want. I've got choices of what to do with these, one idea is taking them to the local used bookstores and seeing if they'll give me credit for them so I can go and buy other books or whatever they sell in these bookstores.

I need to also go through my assortment of clothes and dump the stuff that will never see the light of day on my body again. We're having a yardsale, I need to get rid of some things and the funds of said yardsale will be going to our yearly family trip to Seaside Oregon.

I feel a tad bit overwhelmed at the present. *sighs*

At least they haven't been asking me if I want to grow a penis lately.

The Problem with History Books

Ok, History used to be one of those subjects in High School that I loathed. I wasn't much of a history buff, I didn't really care much about what happened in the past, mostly because I was very much a dreamer and mostly spent my time in the here and now. Or rather, some daydream that couldn't possibly exist.

Sometimes I'm still very much like that.

Anyway, that changed my Sophomore year of highschool, when I took American History and for some reason, how the teacher taught it, I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned muchly. Mostly because I actually absorbed what I was learning. Funny how not a lot of people liked this teacher because of his method of teaching wasn't very popular, but it clicked with me.

Still, I won't claim to be much of a history buff, because most of what you learn about history is either not entirely accurate or the basis of the historian who wrote the book you're reading's agenda. So sometimes crucial facts to be regarded are conveniantly left out.

Therefore, I haven't always been a huge fan of history and still am not. True, I like to learn about things from the past in small doses, but I've learned you can't entirely trust your source 100% of the time.

Well, anyway, I still have an interest in history and while ordering Lileks' latest book "Mommy Knows Worst" (Hilarious! Buy it!) on Amazon, I wanted to get something so I wouldn't have to pay for shipping with it. So I ordered the Politically Incorrect Guide to American History to get my 25 bucks and hence free shipping.

When I get both books in, my NCOIC (who's a major history buff, and yet a Democrat) asked to borrow the Guide while waiting for me to finish Lileks. He had it for a couple of days but found some misconceptions in it himself, as he said that there was an obvious conservative agenda with the book. I told him that I agreed that there probably was, but that's when you use history books to balance each other out. Such as this one. Besides, I've always taken history books with a grain of salt, especially if you find an error within it.

I still wanted to give the book the benefit of the doubt, as maybe there is some spin on it, it should at least give me some facts or maybe just trivia in general that I can use.

Well, I started reading it, thought it was interesting myself, until I came to the chapter about Clinton. In one of the headings under this chapter it goes into detail about Clinton's escapade while in office. Sure, I don't deny any of this happened, except when I got to page 243 in regards to the dillema of the Balkans, where he points out how Yugoslavia seperated peacefully at first with Slovenia, and then violently with the seperation of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzogovina, and 'the city of Kosovo'.

???

Having lived here for the last ten months, I know first hand that Kosovo is not a city. Its a province, like a state. There is no city or town that I know of within Kosovo that is itself named Kosovo (like New York, New York). Hmm, this strikes me as similar as the City of California, or Texas. Or even the city of Massachussetts.

True, maybe its just a small typo, and not even that big of a deal, but Damn! If you find something like that right away that you can debunk from first hand knowledge, you wonder what else is wrong with the book! Grr, that's frustrating. Maybe I shouldn't look into it. I guess I can still read it to get an idea of history from a different point of view then the usual history book, but still. It's frustrating.

You find one thing you can contradict, and it throws the entire thing out of whack. That's the true problem with History books.

Oh well, so far it has still proven to be interesting. I wouldn't condemn it just yet, but to rather use it as a balancing point with other history books to get the whole story, not just part.

How to Say Risawn

It's really easy. Ris - AWN.

Ris rhymes with Kiss.

awn like in Dawn. or even On, like On and Off.

Now say it together. Emphasis is in the second syllable.

In case you were wondering. Because for some reason a lot of people like to put a bird in there or something. And I have never for the life of me associated myself with a Swan.

I've had people misspell my alias ever since I started using it back in 1999. Though I've had people call me Ris, Sawny, or whatever.

Just thought maybe you would like to know. In case all of this time you were wondering.

Pigeons

There are Pigeons on Camp Bondsteel, and I don't know if I've ever seen pigeons as fat as these. They are really waddly and they just walk around bobbing their heads in whatever manner that pigeons do.

I have a strange desire to catch one and squeeze it. Not so much the other birds, just the pigeons. Every so often if you catch me at the right time, you may even witness me running after them. They always fly off though.

I bet if I creep up on them all quiet like, I can probably nab one. But that wouldn't be good preventive medicine practices on my part.

I sat down in the DFac and Nate sits down beside me shortly there after.

Nate: I got something to show you that is really hot!
Kami: Let me see.
Nate: *pulls out his M16 zeroing card, with all the little shot groups sitting in the center*
Kami: That is so sexy!
Nate: Look at my score card. *Pulls out his score card, with every target shot four times nice and cleanly in the center, save for one.*
Kami: What about that one? There are shots on the outside of the target.
Nate: Oh, I got him once. Besides, I needed a survivor to warn everybody else.

He said he would let me have them as a keepsake.

I have a great boyfriend.

I Never Know What to Put Here.

I had my first ever Swedish Oil Massage, which was a full body massage lathered in oil that took an hour. Very very weird, my favorite part was the contortionation of the various limbs at the very end and hearing your joints all crack with a loud *Pop*.

They have a Thai Massage on post, in fact they have a couple which isn't something you would think they have in a war zone, but they do. My calf didn't feel very good getting a massage, but after I got over the initial nervousness of the whole thing, I stopped giggling and started to enjoy myself.

And a couple of Tankers who sing Sweet Transvestite off of Rocky Horror Picture show is one of the funniest things I can say that I've seen while I've been here :) Karaoke night again, I've discovered that Karaoke is one of my favorite things to do here, and now I'm starting to find more songs within my range. What's Up by Four Non-Blondes is a hoot to sing, I was really getting into that. I think I'm going to sing it again and video tape it.

News alert, James Lileks is the best thing I've found on the Net since I discovered Red Vs Blue.

Everyone seems to think I look really sad in that picture. I'm not sad, just bloody tired, and I could not sleep.

Well, I guess I was sad because I was trying to doodle something earlier and it ended in miserable failure. Again. *sighs*

Meanwhile, without nothing much to say in regards to that, here's a dorky picture of me being, well, a dork at the Letnica trip. . . because i have nothing better to say or do at the moment.

2 Minutes Ago. . .

I can't sleep. . . and my creative juices are all but absent at present. Which is evident by the fact that I haven't been able to draw a single thing since I got here.

Somethings wrong on the artistic front. I vow to work on that.

Clearing up Some Misconceptions

Alright, as of recently, I've gained a rather large readership (as to how many of those will stick around, only time will tell). A few of them are trolls that appear to be the type that lurk around website and post pointless comments from time to time, but that's beside the point.

The point is, upon first glance, this blog has created a few misconceptions about me. I thought I would clear that up.

1) I'm a Redneck that likes to kill things.

Ok, so my ancestry does take me back to Arkansas, that doesn't make me a redneck. I'm from a middle class family that lives in suburbia. Despite the fact that I do own a gun and am a member of the NRA, I have never actually killed anything with a gun. I use guns to go target shooting and have them around for self defense. I honestly, don't have the stomach for killing critters. But I'll eat them just the same.

I even tried to be a vegetarian at one time. Lasted a month. It's hard to do when you're family is full of rabid carnivores and your mom makes a kickass beef roast.

Besides, a better label to call me by is Geek.

2) I don't know how to spell Incoherent.

Ok, you sorta got me. It was at first a typo but I noticed that incoheRANT fit in nicely with the blog. It grew on me. I left it. So no, it is NOT a typo! That's the name of my blog.

3) I'm a new blogger that has only recently started.

Believe it or not, I've actually had this blog for three years now. The reason why the archives are not currently up are simple.

a) I've had this blog from before blogger recently updated their system and allowed individual pages for their free members.

b) it's always been on my own server.

c) One day when I was trying to upgrade all of my blog info and individually post to old blog posts, something fried while in FTP mode and suddenly all of my webspace was *poof!* gone.

d) I declared my previous blog a lost cause and decided to start of fresh. This might have been a good idea, I had some interesting things in my previous blog that were probably best left not to the eyes of the public (let me reiterate how much the name of this blog fits).

So, why have you never heard of me before now? Mostly because I write on this thing on again and off again. If you want proof, here is page ONE of my early blog. Sorry, comments didn't exist back then. And it's really rough (I didn't get photoshop until about eight months later). And the content was basically about absolutely Nothing! Pretty much what somebody writes about when they don't know what else to write about, and constantly reminds their readers that they don't know what they want to write about as well (that is always entertaining).

For a further treat, the second page. My humor can be seen a bit here, and if you can't tell, I wasn't a happy camper at the time.

Why didn't I get this kind of fan fare before? Well, one, because I didn't actively seek it, and two, I didn't have bad ass pictures of me wanting to kick some ass on my blog before. And Three, my updating habits were highly 'on again, off again'. And they were largely the kind of thing people wrote when they were bored.

It does have some archival links on that site, but sorry, they don't work. It's bad enough that I'm letting possible trolls in on my little secret that I'm not the greatest driver in the world in snow. And I learned the 'Car likes Oil' lesson the hard way.

4) The airborne wings in my sidebar mean I'm Airborne

That's a long story. My goal is to earn them. I do not have them yet. That little box to the side was a little reminder of my goal to go airborne when I went active duty military. My active duty plans have been thwarted by my current deployment to Kosovo, which I don't mind, because I wanted to deploy REALLY bad.

I'll keep on this site now that it has created a bit of a stir. I'm expecting it to largely die down here shortly, which is a welcome relief to tell you the truth, but I promise I'll keep it going as best as I can while I'm deployed.

Though when it comes to military matters, Foxholes and Dogtags will probably become a lot more lively (still working on it and getting it ready for when I leave!)

Summer Solstace

Ah, the longest day of the year. One of these days, I am going to specifically ASK for this day off and enjoy it from sun up until sun down, by doing things that are outside in the sun.

Just not today. No, I have to go to work. I'm leaving here in a second.

An Oath To Live By

I, Risawn, hereby promise to discourage anyone to view, think or talk about Anime and its cheap traits except when insulting it. I will help tell others about this website so they too can see the hate behind Anime. I hate Anime, and Anime hates me. I will be mocked, but I will fight back. Together, we will stand strong.

Um, added a link to the side. Because I hate anime. I always have, ever since I was little. Something about how their mouths move just really irks me and always have. . .

Elf Only Inn rocks.
